Stink Bug Treatment
What Was Applied Today & What to Expect
What We Applied Today
🌿
Botanical Perimeter Spray
A peppermint and/or cedar oil spray was applied to exterior entry points — window frames, door frames, soffit lines, and utility penetrations. This creates a scent barrier that deters stink bugs from aggregating at these surfaces.
🔒
Exclusion Assessment & Sealing
We inspected the exterior for gaps and cracks stink bugs use to enter. Identified entry points were sealed with caulk, mesh, or weather stripping. Any gaps requiring additional work have been flagged for a follow-up visit.
🪤
Monitoring Traps Placed
Sticky window traps and/or a light trap were placed at key indoor locations to capture stink bugs that are already inside wall voids. These also help us monitor whether exclusion sealing is holding.
What to Expect
📉
Reduced entry over 1–2 weeks
As the botanical repellent takes effect and sealed gaps block new arrivals, you should see fewer stink bugs entering your living spaces over the next one to two weeks.
🪲
Indoor stragglers are normal
Stink bugs that were already inside your walls before we sealed will still emerge on warm days. These stragglers can be vacuumed or dropped into soapy water. They will taper off over several weeks as the overwintering population dies naturally.
🔧
Follow-up may be needed
If we flagged entry points that need additional sealing (large soffit gaps, vent screening, etc.), we'll schedule a follow-up visit to complete that work. Full exclusion is sometimes a two-visit process.
Your Role in This Treatment
  • Vacuum any live stink bugs or brush them into a jar of soapy water. Do not crush — they stain surfaces and release a strong odor.
  • Switch exterior lights near doors and windows to yellow or amber "bug light" bulbs, or keep them off in the evening during September–November.
  • Keep windows and doors closed or fully screened during fall invasion season (September–November). Even a briefly open door lets dozens in.
  • Call us if you see stink bugs clustering on a specific section of wall or around a window — this often signals an unsealed gap we can address.
✓ Safe for Family & Pets
No toxic products were used. The botanical perimeter spray is plant-oil based (peppermint and/or cedar) and is safe for children and pets once dry. Sticky traps are non-toxic adhesive only.
